What is Splash Youth?
We are Splash Youth. We are a community of young people who gather every Friday night during the school term to hang out, play
some crazy games, and grow in our faith. Splash Youth is open to all students from all schools, grades 7 to 10,
and we would love for YOU to join the family.
Every Friday is fresh and exciting, providing opportunities for young people to grow socially, emotionally and spiritually. There is lots of time for students to catch-up and hang out with their friends and leaders. Our Connect Groups are led by very capable Leaders and are a space for students to grow friendships with other people their own age & talk to some great older role models. There will always be games to play, and there will always be good food to buy from the SnackShack. For particular segments of the night, youth will be split into their age and gender groups to engage in an environment that suits their age, interests and stage in life.

INFO FOR PARENTS
OUR VOLUNTEERS + SAFETY MEASURES
Our team is made up of (1) Connect Group Leaders, (2) Helpers, and (3) SnackShack Helpers. Our volunteers range in age, and though some of our volunteers are quite young (grade 11 being the youngest), all volunteers are reviewed for suitability and receive clear behavioural guidelines. All volunteers sign a Code of Conduct which is in place to protect our attendees and also our volunteers, creating a safe community all round. Additionally, all volunteers over 18yo must have a valid Working With Children Check.
Our Connect Group Leaders (CGL's) are held to an even higher standard as they will have the most to do with your children while within Splash Youth. CGL's receive ongoing training and have each completed Professional Standards training, which includes a whole-day intensive workshop particularly related to working ethically with children. Our team is overseen by Manuela Swift who is the Coordinator of Youth Mission as well as Pastor Steve Liersch the congregational pastor at RMLC. We are accountable to the Leadership Council of Rockingham Mandurah Lutheran Church, and ultimately the Professional Standards Unit of the Lutheran Church of Australia.
If you have any questions about Splash Youth's safety measures, or if you would like to report an incident of concern, please contact us immediately.

WHAT WE TEACH & how
Students from all backgrounds & all religions (or no religion) are welcome at Splash Youth. We are a Christian ministry, overseen by a Christian church. Though all our leaders are practicing Christians, we absolutely understand you can't make someone believe something, but we do provide an opportunity for students to hear & discuss thoughts on life, faith & God. Each week, students will receive Christian teaching based on the Bible, addressing a range of relevant topics like friendships, Jesus, prayer, peer pressure, sin and social justice. They'll then gather with a group of students their own age & gender, and be led by 1 or 2 Connect Group Leaders (the same gender as the students) in a discussion to unpack that topic. At the core of all our teaching is what we believe to be the most important message - the certainty of salvation for all who believe in Jesus Christ as Lord.

NIGHT STRUCTURE
Though no youth night is exactly the same, most nights we have a games, social and teach and connect segment. These look different depending the type of night we have planned. Read below for our different night structure.
1. COMBINED NIGHT
On these nights the whole youth group spends most of the night together playing often playing a giant game together. We usually have a combined Teach and Connect segment together with one of our volunteers presenting a message to the group based on the teaching topic we are currently working through.
2. CONNECT GROUP NIGHTS
On these nights Connect Groups spend the majority of the night together. Your child's Connect Group Leader will have organised a game or activity that suits the interest of your child. Teach and Connect with run by your child's leader that night.
3. ACTIVITY NIGHT
On these nights, we do an activity together as a group to provide opportunities to grow as a community. We may be at a different venue in the local area (Indoor Volleyball, Rebound, TimeZone etc.) or have a meal together. Often on these nights there is no structured Teach and Connect segment.
4. BLESSING NIGHT
On these nights, as a youth group we take the opportunity to bless someone or a group of people in our community. This could be someone in our Splash Youth family, our church community, our local Rockingham community or even overseas.
5. YOUTH ONLINE
On these nights, our youth group meets online via ZOOM. We will participate in a group game and spend some time as Connect Groups in Teach and Connect. Keep your eye out on our social media pages or your emails for the log in code and password.

how we would like to partner with you
If your child has been to Splash Youth, they are part of a Connect Group - this is a group of students of the same age and gender. Most Connect Groups have two Connect Group Leaders (CGL), each the same gender as the students in the group. CGL's exist so we can care for your child on a smaller scale. CGL's are people we believe to be positive Christian role models for the students in our care, and if your child's CGL hasn't found the chance to introduce themselves to you just yet, perhaps ask your child to point them out to you at the end of a youth night.
We believe that parents and guardians are without doubt the most influential people in a young person's life, and as the Splash Youth team, and we want to support you in that! We can't replace your job, and neither do we want to. We may spend 40 hours a year with your child, but you will spend 3,000. We want to partner with you as you guide your children through these tricky and often awkward teenage years, so if there's any way we can support your child, don't hesitate to message or call your child's CGL, or you can contact Manuela directly.
Our Leaders volunteer their time because they believe in the value of mentor relationships, and they honestly want to see young people achieve their God-given potential. CGL's are encouraged to connect with their core Connect Group students during the week, to check in with how they're doing, and after a while, a CGL may ask you if it's okay for your child to attend a Connect Group catch up on a weekend or during the holidays. Our CGL's will always aim to act in a honorable way, and you can expand the tab "OUR VOLUNTEERS AND SAFETY MEASURES" or contact us for more details about our processes and policies. If you feel uncomfortable with any of what's been mentioned, or if you don't desire CGL's to have any contact with your child outside of a Friday night, simply contact us at your earliest convenience.
